The most fundamental medium for people to communicate effectively with each other is face-to-face spoken language. In my presentation, I will talk about my research which focuses on how to model semantic meaning such that it can be acquired through spoken interaction, represented computationally, applied in various tasks and settings, and what it means for artificial intelligence.
